Sibanye-Stillwater

Sibanye-Stillwater is a multinational mining and metals processing group with a diversified portfolio of operations in platinum-group metals, gold and other minerals. The company is headquartered in Johannesburg, South Africa, and maintains primary listings on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange and the New York Stock Exchange. Sibanye-Stillwater operates extensive platinum-group metals mining and processing facilities in South Africa and the United States, alongside gold operations in South Africa and other base metal interests. The group's South African platinum operations are concentrated in the Bushveld Complex, while its US platinum-group metals assets, acquired through the purchase of Stillwater Mining in 2017, are located in Montana. Gold operations include deep-level underground mines on the Witwatersrand and Free State goldfields. The company is one of the world's largest primary producers of platinum, palladium and rhodium, and a leading producer of gold. Sibanye-Stillwater employs more than 80 000 people globally and generates annual revenue in excess of R100-billion. The group has pursued a strategy of diversification beyond precious metals, acquiring battery metals assets including lithium, nickel and copper projects to position itself for the energy transition. Sibanye-Stillwater has also invested in recycling and processing capacity for platinum-group metals, particularly autocatalyst recycling. The company was formed in 2013 as a spin-off from Gold Fields, initially focused on South African gold assets, and subsequently transformed through acquisitions into a diversified precious metals producer with a global footprint.
