Mt Lyell copper/gold project.

Location
Near Queenstown, Tasmania, an island state of Australia.

Project Owner/s
International precious metals mining company Sibanye-Stillwater.

Project Description
Mt Lyell is a near-term restart project with an initial 23-year mine life.

The project is expected to produce about 26 000 t /y of copper, 16 000 oz/y of gold and 116 000 oz/y of silver at steady state.

The restart includes the refurbishment of an existing shaft and decline to a depth of 800 m.

Potential Job Creation
The project is expected to employ about 300 employees at steady state.

Net Present Value/Internal Rate of Return
The project has an estimated net present value of $550-million and an internal rate of return of 20%.

Capital Expenditure
About $340-million.

Planned Start/End Date
Construction is planned to start in the first half 2027, with first metal production expected in early 2029.

Latest Developments
The project received a positive investment decision in the first quarter of 2026.
