Kal Tire

Kal Tire is a Canadian tyre management and retreading company serving the mining, commercial and consumer vehicle sectors. It is headquartered in Vernon, British Columbia, Canada, and operates through a global network of service centres and mine-site operations, including in Africa, North and South America, Australia and Europe. The company remains privately owned and family controlled, having grown from a small tyre shop into a multinational provider of tyre services. Its core business spans tyre sales, retreading, fleet management and specialised mining tyre solutions, supported by its Mining Tire Group division. Kal Tire has positioned itself as an innovator in mine-site technology, developing digital tools under its KalPRO brand, such as TireSight and HaulSight, aimed at improving tyre performance monitoring and haul-road safety. It has also explored autonomous inspection technologies, including LiDAR-based systems and products like Goliath-25 and Argus, often in partnership with technology firms such as Pitcrew AI. Sustainability is a stated focus area, particularly through tyre retreading, which extends tyre life and reduces waste in resource-intensive mining operations. The company serves major mining companies worldwide, providing on-site tyre maintenance to reduce downtime and operating costs. Kal Tire traces its origins to 1953, when it was founded as a single tyre shop in Vernon, before expanding into an international mining and retail tyre services group. It continues to expand its technology offerings for mining fleets, integrating data-driven tools with traditional tyre servicing.
