Leading global and local infrastructure investors will gather for The Infra for Africa Forum and Africa50 General Shareholders Meeting, hosted by the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania, in Dar es Salaam, from Wednesday 5th to Thursday 6th August 2026. Africa50’s flagship global gathering, held under the theme "A Decade of Impact: From Visions to Delivery,” convenes heads of state, private investors, developers, and experts to advance action that unlocks next-generation infrastructure and finances Africa’s economic transformation.

As the global economy undergoes structural realignment, the war in the Middle East shapes new trade routes; few places offer as attractive investment opportunities as Africa.

Tanzania is rapidly positioning itself as a pivotal investment destination attracting the attention of the international finance community. Supported by a projected economic growth rate of 5.9%, the country aims to become a trade gateway for landlocked neighbouring countries including Zambia, Rwanda, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. It is the ideal location to address the most pressing challenges and opportunities to reposition African infrastructure as an enabler of markets, innovation, and economic growth.

The high-level forum comes as private investment accounts for just 11% of Africa's infrastructure investment, despite potential returns of up to 20%, which are among the highest globally, according to the OECD. With forecasts projecting Africa’s total population to reach approximately 2.5 billion by 2050, there is an urgent investment imperative to realise the region’s growth potential, radically scale the active workforce and catalyse consumer demand.

Prominent voices within Africa’s infrastructure investment ecosystem, including commercial and institutional investors such as insurers, sovereign wealth funds, pension funds, and development finance institutions, will participate in strategic sessions to address practical ways to reduce Africa’s infrastructure deficit.

The interactive panel sessions will explore how investment models and policy frameworks shape digital economies for Africa’s empowerment and uncover new areas for private finance across the continent, including Asset Recycling and Transmission. Learnings from innovative models to unlocking liquidity and financing new and improved infrastructure will be discussed to enhance value creation, collaboration across sectors and countries, and accelerate the flow of finance.

The programme will feature fireside chats, panels, roundtable discussions, and networking opportunities with leading international investors and pioneering African voices, including:

  • H.E. Samia Suluhu Hassan, President of the United Republic of Tanzania
  • Dr. Sidi Ould Tah, President, African Development Bank Group and Chair, Africa50
