Pennsylvania

Pennsylvania is a state in the north-eastern United States. Its capital is Harrisburg, while Philadelphia and Pittsburgh are its largest cities. The state has a diversified economy historically rooted in coal mining, steel production and manufacturing, though services, healthcare, education and technology now dominate. Pennsylvania retains significant mineral resources, including coal, natural gas from the Marcellus Shale formation, and industrial minerals such as limestone and sand. The state is also home to deposits of critical minerals, including tungsten, which have attracted renewed interest amid global supply-chain concerns. Manufacturing remains important, with sectors including machinery, chemicals, food processing and advanced materials. Pennsylvania's strategic location, infrastructure and skilled workforce support both traditional industries and emerging technology sectors. The state played a central role in the industrial development of the United States and continues to be an important economic hub in the north-east.
