Equinor

Equinor is a Norwegian multinational energy company engaged in oil and gas exploration, production, refining, and renewable energy development. The company is headquartered in Stavanger, Norway, and operates across more than 30 countries worldwide. Equinor is majority-owned by the Norwegian state, which holds approximately 67% of the shares, with the remainder publicly traded on the Oslo and New York stock exchanges. The company's core activities include upstream oil and gas production on the Norwegian continental shelf, international exploration and production, midstream operations, and a growing portfolio of renewable energy projects including offshore wind. Equinor is one of the world's largest offshore operators and a leading supplier of natural gas to European markets. The company employs around 21 000 people globally and generates annual revenues exceeding $100-billion. Major subsidiaries and assets include interests in fields such as Johan Sverdrup, Troll and Snøhvit, as well as renewable ventures in offshore wind farms in Europe and the US. Equinor was founded in 1972 as Statoil, the Norwegian state oil company, and was rebranded to Equinor in 2018 to reflect its transition towards broader energy solutions beyond oil and gas.
