DAF Trucks

DAF Trucks is a Dutch manufacturer of commercial vehicles, specialising in medium and heavy-duty trucks. The company is headquartered in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, and operates production facilities across Europe as well as distribution networks in numerous international markets, including sub-Saharan Africa. DAF Trucks is a subsidiary of US truck maker Paccar, which acquired the business in 1996, and it is not separately listed. The company produces a range of trucks used in logistics, construction and long-haul freight, competing with brands such as Volvo, Scania and Mercedes-Benz. DAF vehicles are commonly fitted with telematics and fleet-management systems that support fuel efficiency, route optimisation and eco-driving initiatives for commercial operators. In the South African market, DAF trucks are distributed and supported through local dealer networks and service partners. The brand has built a reputation for fuel-efficient engines and driver-focused cab design. DAF Trucks traces its origins to 1928, when Hub van Doorne founded the company as a trailer manufacturer before moving into truck production after World War Two. Its trucks remain a significant presence in Europe's commercial vehicle market and in export markets across Africa and the Middle East.
