The project will be developed through a joint venture (JV) between International Graphite (49%) and Alkeemia (51%), with profits to be shared equally.

Project Description
International Graphite signed a binding joint venture and shareholders’ agreement with Alkeemia in May 2026 to establish the Porto Marghera graphite processing hub.

The project envisages the construction of a graphite processing facility to supply processed graphite products to Europe’s industrial, energy storage, advanced manufacturing and defence sectors.

The first phase targets the production of about 10 000 t/y of graphite products, with the technical and financial evaluation based on production of 10 500 t/y.

The selected equipment can produce up to 10 800 t/y. The plant design includes a fully enclosed production building, two micronising lines and a jet mill to produce finer graphite products.

A second phase is planned to increase capacity to about 15 000 t/y within three years. Graphite concentrate feedstock will be imported to Porto Marghera in one-tonne bulk bags transported in 20 ft containers.

The project’s feedstock requirement is estimated at about 10 800 t/y of graphite concentrate.

Capital Expenditure
International Graphite’s capital contribution is estimated at A$12-million for the initial 10 000 t/y facility. This includes A$8.8-million for direct plant and equipment, including freight, installation, growth allowance and contingency; A$3-million for construction management, owners’ costs and first fills; and A$200 000 for other costs.

Alkeemia will contribute access to land, permitting arrangements, warehousing, laboratories, control rooms, waste management systems, logistics and the operational workforce.
