5th Annual MICA Canadian Mining Innovation Showcase – South Africa 2027

The Mining Innovation Commercialization Accelerator (MICA) will host its 5th Annual Canadian Mining Innovation Showcase in Johannesburg, South Africa, on 3 February 2027.
MICA is a pan-Canadian mining innovation initiative focused on accelerating the development and commercialization of innovative technologies to make the mining sector more productive and sustainable. Its innovation ecosystem spans technology focus areas including energy, smart and autonomous mining systems, environmental performance, productivity, critical minerals and metals, circularity, and ESG and licence-to-operate solutions.
The Johannesburg Showcase will provide a platform for Canadian mining technology companies to engage directly with South Africa’s mining ecosystem, showcase innovative technologies and develop new commercial and technology partnerships.
The programme will feature a delegation of approximately 5–10 Canadian mining technology SMEs, presentations from Canadian and South African technology companies, table-top technology exhibitions, business-to-business engagements and networking opportunities.
The Showcase will also bring together mining companies, technology providers, innovation organisations, government and trade representatives, research organisations and other stakeholders from the South African and Canadian mining ecosystems.
The 3 February Showcase forms part of MICA’s broader South Africa programme, which will continue with targeted B2B engagements on 4 February and a planned mining site visit on 5 February.
