A new range of three-phase hybrid inverters is now available to the sub-Saharan Africa market.

The MGTL series from Sungrow covers a power range from 10 kW to 25 kW and is designed to integrate solar and energy storage capabilities into a single solution to help householders and businesses optimise solar utilisation, strengthen energy resilience, and simplify system deployment.

The next-generation inverter series features Sungrow’s potential induced degradation, or PID, Zero technology, an energy storage system, or ESS, PID solution designed to protect PV modules and support long-term system performance. With PV input current of up to 20 A per string, compatibility with high-current PV modules and a wide Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) voltage range, the inverter is said to support up to 250% PV oversizing.

This design enables installers to pair the inverter with larger PV arrays, increasing the potential energy yield from a system and making better use of available rooftop space.

“As solar adoption continues to grow across sub-Saharan Africa, making the most of every available unit of solar generation is becoming increasingly important. The MGTL series gives installers greater flexibility to design systems that can maximise PV generation and help customers get more value from their solar investment,” says  Sungrow sub-Saharan Africa president Nigel Sun.

The series is engineered to provide 0 ms switching between grid-tied and off-grid modes, allowing connected loads to continue operating during a grid outage. The system supports up to 200% three-phase unbalanced output, a maximum charge and discharge current of 440 A, and up to two times AC overload capacity for ten seconds. This allows the system to accommodate demanding residential and commercial loads while providing greater flexibility in designing hybrid solar and storage systems.

The series is designed to help streamline installation and improve user experience and includes fan-less operation to enable ultra-quiet performance. Selected models also feature a 4.3-inch touchscreen for local system monitoring and adjustment.

“As hybrid solar and storage systems become more advanced, installers need solutions that are powerful without adding unnecessary complexity. The MGTL series combines key functions into a highly integrated platform, helping to simplify installation while giving customers greater flexibility in how they manage their energy,” says Sun.

The series features standard arc-fault circuit interruption, or AFCI, 3.0R arc-fault detection, covering cable runs up to 200 m with a 20 A detection current, designed to ensure safety even over long distances and providing early warning against electrical fire risks. The system also integrates a patented explosion-proof design with dual pressure relief, an IP66 protection rating, and C5 anti-corrosion capability to support reliable operation in challenging environments.

The inverters are designed to seamlessly connect with Sungrow's MBL120 and MBL160 battery series and an expanding range of third-party battery solutions. In addition, the iSolarCloud platform gives users and installers access to real-time system data and customisable energy management insights within a secure and open ecosystem.
