IntelliSense.io partners with SEP to scale industrial decision intelligence
Provider of industrial decision intelligence for mining and minerals processing IntelliSense.io has announced a significant investment from investor in enterprise technology companies SEP, alongside strategic investments from Mitsubishi Corporation and Hitachi Construction Machinery.
The investment will accelerate product development, drive expansion into new geographies and scale go-to-market operations.
Former Anglo American CEO Mark Cutifani, former co-head of Glencore Copper and Zinc Marketing and chairperson of Kazzinc Nick Popovic and former Fortescue Metals Group CEO Nev Power have each invested and will join a newly formed strategic advisory board alongside representatives from SEP, Mitsubishi and Hitachi Construction Machinery.
The three boast decades of leadership experience across some of the world’s largest mining companies, giving the board a direct operational perspective on what AI-enabled decision systems must deliver at an industrial scale.
IntelliSense.io’s AI-native platform assists mining operators and asset owners to continuously identify and automate optimisation opportunities that have traditionally been too complex to capture.
By combining real-world physical process constraints with each site’s own configuration and data, the platform makes real-time decisions through autonomous execution agents across critical mine and plant operational processes including material tracking from openpit and underground, stockpile management, grinding, flotation, leaching and thickening, said to deliver higher throughput and metal recovery while lowering energy and reagent consumption.
In deployments where the technology is fully live, outcomes include up to a 5% increase in throughput, 2% increase in recovery, and 8% reduction in reagent consumption.
IntelliSense.io’s technology is in production across more than 24 deployments at Tier 1 mining companies spanning eight countries and over eight commodities.
“Mining sits at the foundation of every supply chain the world is racing to secure. Our Scientific AI encodes the actual physics and chemistry governing a process, not just patterns in data, so it can make consistent, explainable, and real-time decisions for both people and machines.
“This investment lets us take that capability to every major mining region in the world,” says IntelliSense.io CEO and founder Sam G Bose.
Enterprise AI is moving beyond generic tools toward domain-specific applications that deliver measurable outcomes. Concurrently, physical AI is bringing intelligence directly into real-world operations, while mining and critical minerals are increasingly recognised as strategic, sovereign infrastructure, IntelliSense.io avers.
It points out that the company sits at the intersection of these converging trends, bringing together a specialist technology investor in SEP and industrial-scale expertise in Mitsubishi and Hitachi Construction Machinery in one coalition.
SEP’s investment was led by SEP managing partner Keith Davidson, SEP principal Daniel Muranda, and Zahra Thiam.
“IntelliSense.io is closely aligned with SEP’s strategy of partnering with founders to build leading enterprise technology businesses that solve complex and critical problems for demanding global enterprises.
“Sam and the team have built a strong foundation, and we look forward to working closely with them to support international expansion, continued commercial development and the company’s long-term ambitions,” says Davidson.
“Mineral processing is vital to the global economy, but it remains among the most complex industrial environments in which to deploy AI at scale. IntelliSense.io has built a differentiated platform that combines deep process expertise with technology that can autonomously improve operating decisions in real-time.
“Its strong, blue-chip customer base and expanding product footprint give us confidence in the company’s long-term potential,” says Muranda.
