A new image-based code reader from SICK is engineered to help customers identify one dimensional (1D) and two dimensional (2D) codes reliably, aimed at helping to keep processes running smoothly and reduce delays in logistics and industrial environments.

The sensingCam SEC200 is said to combine reliable identification, robust construction and user-friendly guidance in one compact device. An integrated Web server, industrial connectivity and clear visual and acoustic feedback help to simplify configuration, speed up commissioning and support dependable operation on the shop floor.

The 1.3-megapixel camera module captures 1D and 2D codes at reading distances of 100 mm to 300 mm, regardless of alignment or rotation. This allows for fast, intuitive scanning and clear confirmation signalled by a green feedback LED and acoustic signal to indicate when a code has been read successfully.

The simple design and ease of use reduces training time and helps deliver consistent scan results. The robust industrial housing with IP65 enclosure rating protects the device against dust, water spray and mechanical stress, helping to maintain reliable performance in demanding environments.

The unit features standardised mounting accessories, an LED alignment aid and an integrated Web server aimed at ensuring fast installation and commissioning.

Users can configure the code reader directly in a browser, without additional software. In addition, ethernet and USB connectivity simplify integration with existing automation and IT environments.

For larger systems or series applications, cloning functionality allows settings to be copied to additional devices. This helps ensure consistent configuration, reduces the risk of setup errors and saves installation time.

SICK asserts that cybersecurity is an essential part of ensuring operational confidence, especially as connected devices become increasingly prevalent in industrial environments. The company says that it has applied a binding cybersecurity strategy for many years, developing products in line with recognised, standards-based data security requirements and that its sensingCam SEC200 is European Union Cyber Resilience Act, or CRA, compliant.
