Pan-African telecommunications and network services provider Paratus Group has launched a solution aimed at delivering satellite connectivity to organisations based in remote communities in regions across Africa.

Paratus Essential Access is designed by Paratus and powered by Starlink to provide high-speed, low-latency connectivity. The service is offered with preferential pricing and priority support for approved essential service organisations, such as law enforcement, hospitals and community health clinics, schools, tertiary institutions, fire and emergency response, community centres, non-profit agriculture and food security initiatives.

The service is backed by the company’s in-country teams that offer support for installation and integration with other network services.  The company says its rapid deployment capabilities enable organisations to be connected quickly to ensure continuity of essential services even in challenging environments.

Paratus Group CEO Schalk Erasmus says: “With Paratus Essential Access we are prioritising the organisations and communities people rely on most. This ensures that essential services in remote areas stay connected where traditional infrastructure cannot reach, allowing them to continue providing vital support to the communities they serve.”

The solution is designed to facilitate the implementation of a range of critical applications, from emergency response coordination and secure communications to telemedicine, digital health systems and remote learning. It also supports smart agriculture and operational monitoring, aimed at strengthening food security and community sustainability.

Availability is subject to specific qualification criteria to ensure that the solution is implemented for priority areas. The service is currently available in Botswana, Eswatini, Kenya, Lesotho, Mozambique, Rwanda and Zambia and will be rolled out to other territories in the near future.
