Tesla

Tesla is an American electric vehicle and clean energy company headquartered in Austin, Texas. The company designs, manufactures and sells battery electric vehicles, solar panels, solar roof tiles and energy storage systems. Tesla operates manufacturing facilities in the United States, China and Germany, with additional plants under development. The company is publicly traded on the Nasdaq stock exchange and is one of the world's most valuable automotive manufacturers by market capitalisation. Tesla's vehicle lineup includes the Model S, Model 3, Model X, Model Y and Cybertruck, alongside its Semi commercial truck and Roadster sports car. The company also produces battery cells and energy storage products for residential, commercial and grid-scale applications. Tesla employs more than 100 000 people globally and generates annual revenue exceeding $80-billion. The company has played a significant role in accelerating the automotive industry's transition to electric powertrains and has established one of the largest networks of fast-charging stations worldwide. Tesla was founded in 2003 by Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning, with Elon Musk joining as chairman and lead investor in 2004 and later becoming chief executive.
