Kevin Warsh

Kevin Warsh is an American financier, economist and former central banker who served as a governor of the Federal Reserve from 2006 to 2011. He is a US national who joined the Federal Reserve Board during a period of financial turbulence preceding the global financial crisis. Warsh played a significant role in shaping monetary policy and crisis response during the 2008 financial meltdown, working on emergency lending programmes and coordination with international central banks. Before his appointment to the Federal Reserve, he served as special assistant to the president for economic policy and as executive secretary of the White House National Economic Council under President George W Bush. His influence extends across financial regulation, monetary policy and capital markets, and he has been a recurring figure in discussions about Federal Reserve leadership. After leaving the Federal Reserve, Warsh became a distinguished visiting fellow at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University, where he focuses on economic policy, governance and financial markets. He has also served on corporate boards and advised policymakers on regulatory and monetary matters. Warsh was considered a candidate for Federal Reserve chair during the Trump administration. He began his career in finance at Morgan Stanley, where he worked in mergers and acquisitions.
