Hemi

Hemi is a gold deposit and development project located in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. It is owned by Northern Star, one of Australia's largest gold miners, following the company's acquisition of De Grey Mining, which originally discovered and advanced the project. Hemi is regarded as one of the most significant gold discoveries in Australia in recent decades, with a large-scale orebody supporting plans for a long life-of-mine operation. The project is positioned to become a major processing and production hub, adding substantial ounces to Northern Star's overall production profile. Development work has focused on defining the resource further and progressing studies towards a large open-pit mining operation. Chief executive Stuart Tonkin has highlighted Hemi as a cornerstone growth asset for the company's future output. The project's scale has drawn attention from investors and industry analysts monitoring Australian gold supply growth. Its progress is closely tied to movements in the Australian dollar gold price, which affects project economics. Hemi sits within a broader portfolio that includes established operations such as Kalgoorlie Consolidated Gold Mines. The project remains in a development and ramp-up phase as infrastructure and processing capacity are built out to support future gold output.
