Grupo Mexico

Grupo Mexico is a diversified Mexican conglomerate with core operations in mining, transport and infrastructure. The company is headquartered in Mexico City and operates mainly across Mexico, Peru and the United States. It is listed on the Mexican Stock Exchange and controlled by the Larrea family, which holds a majority stake. Its principal subsidiary, Southern Copper Corporation, ranks among the world's largest copper producers, while other units are active in molybdenum, silver, zinc and gold. The group also owns Ferromex, one of Mexico's largest rail freight operators, giving it a substantial logistics footprint alongside its resources business. Grupo Mexico is one of the largest private employers in the Mexican mining sector and generates revenue in the billions of dollars a year. Its scale and integrated rail-and-mining model give it significant influence over Mexico's metals exports and industrial supply chains. The company traces its roots to the early twentieth century, growing through consolidation of Mexican mining and railway assets, and it remains a bellwether for copper and precious-metals investment in Latin America.
