Weir

Weir is a global engineering company specialising in mining, minerals processing and infrastructure equipment and services. Headquartered in Glasgow, Scotland, the company operates across more than 70 countries, serving customers in the mining, oil and gas, and power sectors. Weir is listed on the London Stock Exchange and is a constituent of the FTSE 250 index. The company's core products include slurry pumps, hydrocyclones, valves, comminution equipment and wear-resistant materials used in demanding applications. Its mining division supplies equipment and aftermarket services to gold, copper, iron-ore, bauxite, lithium and other mineral operations worldwide. Weir holds a significant market position in critical minerals processing, supporting the energy transition through technology for battery metals extraction. The company employs approximately 11 000 people globally and generates annual revenue exceeding £2-billion. Weir operates through principal brands including Weir Minerals, Weir ESCO and Weir Oil & Gas. The company was founded in 1871 by brothers George and James Weir in Glasgow, initially manufacturing pumps and valves for marine and industrial applications before expanding into mining equipment in the twentieth century.
