Svendborg Brakes have been installed as original equipment in South Africa, and throughout the world, on a wide range of applications. The key to their success is extensive application knowledge, innovative design, fast prototyping and a highly advanced research and development facility in Denmark.

Nowhere is this expertise better demonstrated than on overland and downhill conveyors where precise control is required for a single or multiple braking systems within the conveyance to ensure the load is brought to a controlled stop.

For a standard conveyor set-up the brakes, or brake, are typically mounted on the drive unit either on the input or the output side of the gearbox and controlled by a hydraulic power unit providing emergency stop or ramped braking as required. With a downhill conveyor where the load can vary and control is critical, a SOBO IQ controller is incorporated, which is capable of energising the brakes through a series of predetermined ramps. A UPS backup allows the system to operate normally in the event of a power failure.

Sintech is Svendborg’s Southern African distributor and have been trained to fully support all of their products from selection and installation to commissioning and ongoing service support. Sintech has a large inventory of spares and new units and a rebuild facility in Boksburg, Gauteng. Its technicians operate throughout Africa to offer the best in service and product training.
