Aim-listed Shanta Gold has discovered various gold intercepts on the Jamhuri Main, Bauhinia Creek and Elizabeth Hill deposits around its New Luika mine, in Tanzania.

Shanta is aiming to convert inferred resources to indicated resources at various deposits, determine down-plunge continuity of the Luika Deep underground deposit, as well as test a maiden target at the Jamhuri West deposit.

The company is also drilling the Jem, Gold Tree and Vivian deposits near its Singida mine, which is equally aimed at converting inferred resources to the indicated category and testing lateral extents of mineralised zones.

On the New Luika prospects, Shanta has conducted 5 855 m of drilling on 38 holes, with intersections including 2.4 m of gold grading 6.84 g/t from 223 m, 1 m of gold grading 6.24 g/t from 50 m and 1 m of gold grading 16.78 g/t from 85 m.

About 4 008 m of drilling on 37 holes have been conducted on the Singida prospects, with some of the best intersections including 0.5 m of gold grading 94 g/t from 81 m, 8 m of gold grading 2.63 g/t from 83 m and 5 m grading 2.97 g/t from 19 m.

Drilling will continue at all prospects throughout the second quarter.

Of all the deposits, Elizabeth Hill, Bauhinia Creek and Luika Underground are currently in production, while the others remain unexploited.

Most of the deposits remain open at depth and some along strike.
