Redefine Properties has appointed Nadya Bhettay as an independent non-executive director with effect from 4 August 2026. She will serve on the Audit, Remuneration, and Risk, Compliance and Technology Committees of the board. Her appointment enhances the skills diversity of the board while supporting the efficient and effective management of its succession planning.

“We appreciate the increased role of technology, strategy setting and efficient deployment of capital for the sustainability of our enterprise. Bhettay’s experience in these areas will strengthen the board’s capacity. She brings a rare combination of financial rigour, strategic thinking and hands-on deal experience. We look forward to her quality contribution,” says Redefine chairperson Sipho Pityana.

Bhettay built most of her experience outside the real estate sector, primarily in telecommunications and technology. In recent years, these sectors have become a proving ground for the capital allocation and risk judgement required by property boards.

A chartered accountant by training, Bhettay holds a finance honours degree and a postgraduate diploma in accounting from the University of Cape Town. She spent most of her executive career at Vodacom and Vodafone. Her most senior role was as Vodacom Group's chief strategy officer, where she played a central role in some of the telecommunication’s group's most consequential deals of the past decade.

Before that, Bhettay served as finance director of Vodafone Ireland, where she assisted with returning the business to revenue growth. Later, as chief operations officer of Vodacom Business: Ventures & Strategic Partnerships, she oversaw the group's portfolio of technology venture investments and led strategic partnerships with companies such as AWS, Google, and IBM.

Bhettay also has extensive non-executive director experience. She serves on the board of Capitec, one of South Africa's largest banks by market capitalisation, where her committee responsibilities include audit, risk and capital management, as well as social and ethics. She is also a non-executive director and trustee of E Squared Investments, the impact investor that holds an 18% stake in Allan Gray, and a non-executive director of MetroFibre Networx, Octotel and Endeavour South Africa.
