Partnership presents assorted industrial valve solutions

BIANCA BUTTERFLY VALVE The Bianca Butterfly valve is one of the valve solutions on offer from the partnership between BMG and InterApp for industrial flow control
Industrial equipment supplier BMG notes that its butterfly valve portfolio from Swiss-based equipment supplier InterApp offers numerous material and construction options for applications ranging from corrosive chemicals handling to general industrial flow control.
Meanwhile the Bianca, Desponia and Desponia Plus valves form part of BMG’s comprehensive offering which includes ball and check valves as well as actuation equipment.
“Matching the valve to the process is central to reliable operation. Pressure, temperature and compatibility with the medium determine the appropriate configuration, [alongside] flow requirements, installation space and actuation methods . . . Incorrect choices can lead to premature wear, leakage and production interruptions,” explains BMG fluid technology division sales manager Susan Victor.
She says that BMG’s approach “considers the customer’s operating environment and maintenance requirements, with attention to long-term value as well as the initial purchase price”. It also prioritises correct selection, installation and maintenance as these factors influence plant availability and equipment service life, “particularly where continuous operation makes unplanned shutdowns costly”.
The Bianca butterfly valve incorporates a polytetrafluoroethylene liner and Perfluoroalkoxy-coated disc, making it the “ideal” solution for corrosive chemicals and aggressive process media. Victor notes chemical resistance and dependable shut-off as key requirements in the valve’s typical applications, which include chemicals processing, pharmaceuticals manufacturing and water treatment.
Additionally, the Desponia range caters for general industrial applications, including mining, water treatment, heating, ventilation, air-conditioning, and sugar processing. It is also suitable for slurry-handling duties, subject to select materials and operating conditions.
Desponia valves – available from BMG in wafer and lug configurations – incorporate elastomer liners and a choice of disc and body materials to suit different process requirements. Their compact construction, low operating torque and quarter-turn operation, are useful where space and maintenance access are important considerations.
Further, the Desponia Plus range is recommended for more demanding industrial applications and automated valve systems.
Other valve types fulfil distinct functions within the process, such as InterApp ball valves, which provide fast quarter-turn operation and effective shut-off for water, oil, compressed air and compatible process fluids. Check valves, meanwhile, prevent reverse flow, helping to protect pumps, pipelines and associated equipment.
Manual, pneumatic and electric actuation options allow valves to be configured according to the application. Automated configurations can be integrated into industrial process-control systems for remote operation and improved operational control. Associated components include limit switches, position indicators and valve liners.
As the official South African distributor of InterApp, BMG provides local application guidance through its fluid technology team.
“The InterApp range is designed for use in many industries, including mining, chemicals processing, water and wastewater treatment. These valves are also suitable for food and beverage production, sugar processing, pulp and paper, power generation and general manufacturing,” Victor concludes.
