A joint venture between Frontier Lithium (92.5%) and Mitsubishi Corporation (7.5%).
Project Description
The project comprises the PAK and Spark openpits, waste-rock dumps, a concentrator complex, a tailings management facility and supporting infrastructure. The 2025 feasibility study proposes conventional openpit mining over a 31-year mine life and production of about 200 000 t/y of chemical-grade concentrate. A downstream lithium conversion facility is planned for the Thunder Bay region.
Potential Job Creation
The two-year construction phase is expected to create 931 full-time-equivalent jobs nationally, while the 30-year operating phase is expected to create 415.
Net Present Value/Internal Rate of Return
The feasibility study estimates an after-tax net present value, at an 8% discount rate, of C$932-million and an internal rate of return of 17.9%.
Capital Expenditure
Total capital expenditure is estimated at C$943.23-million.
Planned Start/End
Frontier targets completion of the updated mine-and-mill feasibility study in the first quarter of 2027.
Latest Developments
Frontier Lithium announced on September 10, 2026, that it had awarded DRA Americas an updated feasibility study for the mine-and-mill stage. The study is targeted for completion in the first quarter of 2027.
On September 14, 2026, Frontier reported that PAK had been included in the Canada Investment Summit Prospectus and was the only lithium project among the 15 opportunities in the Ontario Deal Book.
