Name of the Mine
La Libertad Complex.

Location
The La Libertad Complex is located in the municipal area of La Libertad, Chontales Department, in Nicaragua.

Mine Owner/s
Midtier gold producer Calibre Mining Corp.

Brief Description
The La Libertad Complex currently comprises six openpit mines and three underground mines.

As at December 31, 2023, two of the open pit mines (Pavón Central and Guapinol and Vancouver) were in operation and the remaining four (Volcan, Pavón Sur, Blag, and Rosario) were scheduled to start delivering ore to the Libertad process plant starting in 2024, 2025, 2026, and 2032 respectively.

Underground mines include Jabalí West, which is currently in operation, and Riscos de Oro and Blag which are scheduled to begin delivering ore to the Libertad process plant in 2026 and 2030 respectively.

Brief History
Calibre entered into a transaction with B2Gold Corp in July 2019, whereby it acquired the producing El Limόn and La Libertad gold mines, as well as the Pavón gold project and other mineral concessions in Nicaragua.

Primary Metals/Minerals
Gold.

Secondary Metals/Minerals
Silver.

Geology/Mineralisation
La Libertad
The La Libertad gold district is located within south-central Nicaragua and covers an area of about 150 km2. Gold mineralisation occurs within andesitic volcanic rocks as low sulphidation epithermal style veins, breccias and related vein stockwork arrays that are controlled by a system of regional scale north-easterly-trending steeply dipping faults and subordinate east–west-trending fault splays.

Pavón
The Pavón district covers an area of about 32 km2 within the central highlands of Nicaragua. Gold mineralisation occurs within a sequence of andesitic and rhyodacitic volcanic rocks as low sulphidation epithermal-style veins, breccias and related stockwork vein arrays, which are controlled by a regional scale system of steeply dipping northerly and north-westerly-trending faults.

EBP
The EBP district covers a regional scale structural corridor of north-east-trending steeply dipping faults and subordinate north-north-east- and north-north-west-trending linking fault structures that transect a thick sequence of andesitc volcanic rocks. Low to intermediate sulphidation epithermal veins host bonanza-style gold/silver mineralisation along with lead/zinc occurring in some vein systems. Individual deposits occur as steeply plunging ore shoots and sheeted vein arrays localised at fault intersections at multiple locations within the EBP claim block.

Reserves
As at December 31, 2023, probable reserves were estimated at 3.45-million tonnes grading 4.39 g/t gold and 36.2 g/t silver.

Resources
Total indicated resources were estimated at 4.47-million tonnes grading 4.18 g/t gold and 34.7 g/t silver. Inferred resources were estimated at 3.99-million tonnes grading 4.06 g/t gold and 37.6 g/t silver.

Type of Mine
Openpit and underground.

Mining Method
La Libertad – conventional openpit truck-and-shovel mining methods and longitudinal sublevel stoping-type mining methods underground.

Pavón – contractor mining using conventional truck-and-loader equipment.

EBS – contractor mining.

Major Infrastructure/Equipment
Infrastructure includes:

  • a conventional processing plant with a nominal capacity of 2.2-million tonnes a year of mill feed.
  • stockpile areas and haulage roads from the La Libertad mines to the plant.
  • electrical power from the national grid system by a dedicated 138 kVA line.
  • process water supply totalling 1 450 gallons per minute from a variety of sources on the site.
  • warehouses, administration buildings, dry facilities, and maintenance shops.
  • an access road network connecting the mine infrastructure to the town site and to public roads.
  • national highways for trucked mill feed from El Limón and Pavón mine operations.
  • a conventional tailings storage facility (La Esperanza).

The Pavón mine uses the same supporting infrastructure for the Pavón Norte and Central areas. The main supporting infrastructure for the Pavón mine includes:

  • a camp and offices,
  • an explosives magazine,
  • a fuel station,
  • a truck shop/maintenance shop,
  • a warehouse, and
  • cap magazines.

The EBP uses the same supporting infrastructure for the Guapinol-Vancouver openpit and Riscos de Oro underground mines. The main supporting infrastructure for the EBP includes:

  • a camp and offices,
  • a warehouse,
  • an explosives magazine,
  • a fuel station,
  • a truck shop/maintenance shop,
  • cap magazines.

Prospects
Calibre Mining is advancing a resource expansion and discovery drill programme with multiple drill rigs operating across the Libertad concessions.
