As part of its Colloquia in Energy, Economics and the Environment, nonprofit organisation FFF Carbon will host its first series, “Power generation: Opportunities for responsible coal-fired power and heat generation in Southern Africa”, on August 15.

Set to be held at the Premier Hotel, in Midrand, from 08:30 to 16:45, the event will explore how coal can be used responsibly in the energy transition.

The keynote address will be delivered by Department of Electricity and Energy interim director-general Subesh Pillay, focusing on the challenges and opportunities in power generation in South Africa.

Other topics on the day constitute modern combustion technologies, fluidised bed combustion technologies in the country and emissions abatement.
