Driving more reliable conveyor performance
Tru-Trac head of sales David Perreira spoke to Engineering News & Mining Weekly during the Electra Mining Africa event, held in Johannesburg from 7 to 11 September 2026. Camerawork: Shadwyn Dickinson. Editing: Darlene Creamer.
As conveyor systems become increasingly critical to mine productivity, conveyor belt solutions provider Tru-Trac is helping mining operations improve reliability, efficiency and safety through a comprehensive range of conveyor solutions. While the company is recognised for its expertise in belt tracking, its offering has evolved to address a much broader range of conveyor performance challenges, including belt alignment, spillage, material carryback and belt damage.
Tru-Trac is also embracing digital technologies to support a more proactive approach to conveyor maintenance. Solutions such as AccuTrac AI Scale and RIP Prevent+ provide operations with greater insight into conveyor performance and potential problems, helping maintenance teams identify issues earlier and reduce unplanned downtime.
A key strength of Tru-Trac is its combination of engineering expertise and practical application knowledge. Understanding the operating environment, conveyor configuration and specific challenges faced by a mine enables the company to recommend solutions that are fit for purpose rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all approach.
Looking ahead, Tru-Trac sees significant opportunities for innovation across Africa's mining sector, particularly through the increased adoption of intelligent monitoring, predictive maintenance and technologies that improve conveyor efficiency while reducing maintenance requirements. By combining proven mechanical solutions with digital capabilities, Tru-Trac is positioning itself to support mines as they seek safer, more reliable and increasingly data-driven conveyor operations.
