Gold producer DRDGOLD, a specialist in the recovery of the metal from the retreatment of surface tailings.
Project Description
DRDGOLD has resumed the TSF as a deposition facility to supplement Ergo Mining’s Brakpan TSF until its longer-term Withok TSF is commissioned.
The project adds 120-million tonnes of tailings storage capacity. Under the reconfigured deposition regime, Daggafontein is designed to receive 750 000 t a month, with 900 000 t a month deposited at Brakpan.
Ergo expects to sustain this combined 1.65-million-tonne-a-month rate until 2031.

Latest Developments
Water was first pumped to the TSF on June 25, 2026, and the first tailings were deposited on July 6, 2026. Daggafontein was the first of the five Vision 2028 capital projects to be completed and is now operating.
