Antimony refiner Nova Minerals confirms plant equipment is on its way to Alaska
Almost 500 t of crushing, ore sorting, milling, flotation, and refining equipment are on the way from Seattle to NYSE- and ASX-listed Nova Minerals Corporation's Port MacKenzie plant site, in Alaska.
The equipment delivery marks a milestone in the company's mission to establish a fully secure and vertically integrated antimony supply chain in the state.
The barge containing more than 40 shipping containers is expected to arrive on Nova's site early in September, following which construction of the antimony processing facility will start.
Nova is refurbishing a recently decommissioned plant, which is delivering significant cost savings and accelerating a pathway to initial antimony production in 2027.
Nova's antimony development is fully funded by a $43-million Defence Production Act Title III award, in acknowledging the company's first-mover advantage in developing a fully integrated antimony mining, processing and refining operation in Alaska.
The Port MacKenzie plant is designed to process stibnite-bearing material, initially into antimony trisulfide as part of the US Department of War project, and is modular and easily scalable for future expansion into additional saleable refined antimony products, including antimony metal and trioxide.
Upon completion, the Port MacKenzie facility is expected to serve as a strategic US processing and toll-treatment facility capable of producing refined antimony products for defence, industrial and critical technology supply chains.
