Aldoro increases its resource estimate for Namibian rare earths project
ASX-listed mineral exploration and development company Aldoro Resources has confirmed that its Kameeelburg rare earth elements (REEs) project, in Namibia, has increased its resource estimate from a maiden 280-million tonnes reported 12 months ago, to 804.5-million tonnes as at June 30.
The update mineral resource estimate for the project also includes the first indicated resource of 162.1-million tonnes.
The inferred mineral resource is estimated at 642.4-million tonnes.
Aldoro says the declaration of the indicated mineral resource represents a significant derisking milestone for the project and, based on an average neodymium-praseodymium (NdPr) grade of 0.18%, the indicated resource is said to contain about 290 000 t of NdPr oxide, providing a substantially higher confidence inventory to underpin future mine scheduling.
The company adds that the current indicated quantities provide a solid platform for a planned Phase 3 drilling programme, which is specifically designed to convert additional inferred resources into the indicated resource category ahead of further development studies.
The company believes these results position it to meet future global demand for magnet rare earths, while stressing the importance of the need to successfully develop new and large-scale rare earth deposits outside of China.
“This mineral resource update represents a defining milestone in Aldoro’s evolution from a successful explorer into an emerging global critical minerals development company.
“What makes Kameelburg particularly exciting is not simply its scale, but its unique mineralogy. Unlike many conventional rare earth deposits where mineralisation is predominantly hosted by monazite or bastnäsite, Kameelburg’s mineralisation is hosted predominantly within ancylite, together with strontianite and associated niobium-bearing minerals,” comments Aldoro Resources chairperson Quinn Li.
Li notes that, in addition to its globally significant REE inventory, the Kameelburg project hosts substantial strontium and niobium mineralisation, both of which have demonstrated encouraging metallurgical recoveries in preliminary testwork.
Further, she says this multi-critical-mineral profile has the potential to provide greater project flexibility, multiple product streams and enhanced resilience throughout commodity price cycles as development studies progress.
The company also highlights the importance of it being well prepared to take advantage of the transition towards electrification, industrial automation and AI-enabled robotics, which is expected to increase demand for secure supplies of magnet rare earths over the coming decades.
Meanwhile, Aldoro says it will continue to make progress on its proposed listing on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (HKEX) given that this exchange was the world’s largest initial public offering (IPO) venue by funds raised in 2025, raising about $36-billion across 106 new listings, with greater momentum continuing into this year.
“Aldoro is working with a number of internationally recognised geological, metallurgical, engineering, legal, financial and corporate advisory consultants to progressively satisfy the technical and regulatory requirements associated with the company’s proposed HKEX listing.
“We believe this international strategy will broaden access to global institutional capital while supporting the long-term development of one of the world’s most significant emerging critical minerals projects,” Li says.
