Established in 2000, Advanced Fire Suppression Technologies (FST) has grown into a specialist provider of fire detection, protection and suppression solutions, serving the mining and construction, industrial, agriculture, hospitality and commercial sectors. The company is focused on protecting people and assets through fire prevention technologies, equipment, training and ongoing support.

Advanced FST provides a comprehensive range of solutions, including vehicle and fixed fire suppression systems, electronic fire detection, gas and foam suppression, water-based systems, fire extinguishers and associated hoses, cabinets, valves and accessories. Its vehicle fire suppression offering is tailored to the requirements of heavy-duty mining, construction and specialist equipment, while its fixed systems cover applications ranging from warehouses and offices to large industrial and mining facilities.

The company also offers locally designed and manufactured fire suppression systems, including AFFF and dry chemical powder systems, as well as specialised solutions for large off-road vehicles and mining equipment. In addition, Advanced FST provides foam suppression solutions and customised containerised workshops for fire equipment and hydraulic maintenance.

Advanced FST has established strategic partnerships with global market leaders to broaden its technology offering and expertise. Its services extend beyond equipment supply to include system design, laboratory-based foam testing, technical support, onsite assistance, field testing, assembly, maintenance and servicing.

With a customer base of more than 1 150 and a network of branches and distribution channels across South Africa and the wider African continent, Advanced FST has developed a substantial regional footprint. The company says its distribution network reaches markets extending from Southern Africa into West and East Africa, supporting customers across a range of demanding operating environments.

Through its combination of industry expertise, international partnerships, locally developed technologies and service capabilities, Advanced FST aims to provide tailored fire-risk management solutions that help customers minimise the potential impact of fire on people, equipment, production and assets.

Advanced FST CEO Armand Barnard spoke to Engineering News & Mining Weekly during the Electra Mining Africa event, held in Johannesburg from 7 to 11 September 2026.
