Zijin

Zijin Mining Group is a Chinese multinational mining company headquartered in Fujian province that ranks among the world's largest gold and copper producers. The company operates mines and processing facilities across multiple continents, with significant operations in China, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Serbia, Peru and other countries. Zijin is listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange and the Shanghai Stock Exchange, making it one of China's most prominent publicly traded mining enterprises. The group's core business encompasses exploration, mining, processing and trading of gold, copper, zinc, lead and other mineral resources. In Africa, Zijin has established a substantial presence in the Democratic Republic of Congo's copper-cobalt belt, where it operates major mining assets that contribute to global critical minerals supply chains. The company has pursued an aggressive international expansion strategy over the past two decades, acquiring and developing mining projects to secure access to strategic mineral resources. Zijin's operations in the Democratic Republic of Congo position it as a key player in the production of copper and cobalt, minerals essential for electric vehicle batteries and renewable energy technologies. The company competes with other major Chinese mining groups such as CMOC and Huayou in African mineral markets. Zijin was founded in 1986 and has grown from a small domestic gold miner into a diversified global mining conglomerate with annual revenues exceeding tens of billions of dollars.
