Yukon

Yukon is a territory in north-west Canada. Its capital is Whitehorse, which is also the territory's largest city and economic centre. Yukon has a population of about 45 000 people, making it one of the least populated jurisdictions in Canada. The territory's economy is dominated by mining, particularly copper, gold, silver, zinc and lead extraction, alongside tourism and government services. Yukon is rich in mineral resources and hosts numerous active and historic mining operations, including copper and gold projects. The territory shares borders with Alaska to the west, British Columbia to the south and the Northwest Territories to the east. Yukon's governance structure includes partnerships with First Nations communities, who hold significant land claims and participate in resource development decisions. The territory has attracted investment in critical minerals exploration and development, positioning it as an important jurisdiction for North American mineral supply chains. Yukon was established as a separate territory in 1898 during the Klondike Gold Rush and has maintained its status as a key mining region in Canada.
