Tumas

Tumas is a uranium project located in the Erongo region of Namibia, operated by Australian uranium developer Deep Yellow. The project sits within Namibia's established uranium mining province, approximately 65 km inland from the coastal town of Swakopmund. Tumas represents Deep Yellow's flagship development asset and is being advanced towards commercial uranium production. The project hosts a substantial uranium resource amenable to open-pit mining methods. Tumas is designed to produce uranium oxide concentrate, commonly known as yellowcake, for sale to nuclear power utilities. The project benefits from proximity to existing infrastructure, including road and port access through Walvis Bay. Deep Yellow has completed feasibility studies and environmental assessments for Tumas, positioning it as one of Namibia's next-generation uranium mines. The project has attracted attention from major mining groups, including Rio Tinto, which has evaluated potential involvement. Tumas is expected to contribute to Namibia's position as a significant global uranium supplier. The project's development aligns with growing international demand for uranium to fuel nuclear power generation as part of the transition to low-carbon energy.
