Lucara Diamond

Lucara Diamond is a Canadian diamond mining company focused on the development and operation of high-value diamond assets in Botswana. The company is headquartered in Vancouver, British Columbia, and is publicly listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange and Nasdaq Stockholm. Lucara's principal asset is the Karowe mine in Botswana, which has gained international recognition for producing some of the world's largest and highest-quality diamonds. The mine employs advanced X-ray transmission technology to recover large, high-value stones intact, enhancing their market value. Lucara has recovered several historic diamonds from Karowe, including the 1 109-carat Lesedi La Rona and the 1 758-carat Sewelô, the second-largest gem-quality diamond ever found. The company has pioneered direct sales channels and digital platforms to market its exceptional stones, bypassing traditional auction houses. Lucara's business model emphasises maximising value from large, high-quality diamonds rather than volume production. The company also holds exploration and development projects elsewhere in Botswana. Lucara was established in 2009 following a corporate restructuring and has since focused exclusively on its Botswana operations.
