Jeff Quartermaine

Jeff Quartermaine is a mining executive who served as managing director and CEO of ASX- and TSX-listed Perseus Mining from 2013 until his retirement on September 30, 2025, having joined the company as CFO in 2010. During his 12-year tenure as chief executive, he transformed Perseus from a single-mine, single-country operation into a multi-mine, multi-jurisdictional, Africa-focused gold producer, developer and explorer, overseeing the development of the Edikan mine in Ghana and the Sissingué and Yaouré mines in Côte d'Ivoire, and leading the company's expansion into Tanzania through the acquisition and development of the Nyanzaga gold project. Under his leadership, Perseus grew into a leading midtier gold company, reaching annual production of about 500 000 oz for the first time in the 2024 financial year and pursuing a strategy of producing between 500 000 oz/y and 600 000 oz/y across three to four operating mines. He guided major capital decisions, including the $523-million final investment decision on Nyanzaga in April 2025 and the $170-million CMA underground project at Yaouré, and managed Perseus's engagement with the governments of Ghana, Côte d'Ivoire and Tanzania. He stepped down as CEO on September 30, 2025, succeeded by Craig Jones, while continuing to support the company through a consultancy agreement. In September 2026, Quartermaine was appointed an independent nonexecutive director of Australian gold producer Northern Star, joining other new board appointees amid a board refresh sought by major shareholder Elliott Investment Management.
