Ivan Murphy

Ivan Murphy is executive chairperson of Harena Rare Earths, a London Stock Exchange-listed rare earths company developing the Ampasindava ionic clay rare earth project in Madagascar. He previously served as nonexecutive chairperson of the company, moving into the executive role from October 2025 to lead financial restructuring, strategic repositioning and the next phase of development. Under his leadership, Harena has secured a project development funding agreement worth up to $4.84-million with the US International Development Finance Corporation, completed a prefeasibility study indicating a 20-year life-of-mine and about 71 000 t of total rare earth oxide, formalised the Ampasindava exploitation permit with Madagascar's Ministry of Mines, and begun cross-trading on the US OTCQB Venture Market to broaden its investor base. He has overseen several equity fundraisings, including placements with institutional investor RAB Capital, and an exclusivity agreement to evaluate acquiring US-based rare earth and uranium exploration permits in California. Murphy is a prominent voice in positioning Harena as a Western-aligned alternative source of critical magnet rare earths amid US efforts to reduce reliance on Chinese supply chains, regularly commenting on project milestones, funding agreements and the company's engagement with US government agencies and capital markets.
