British Columbia-based Xcite Uranium has started with a diamond drill programme in the area hosting the past-producing Black Bay uranium mine, in Saskatchewan.

The 1 300 m, six-hole drill campaign will test for uranium mineralisation defined by both historical work and results from the company's 2025/26 field programmes.

Historic production from 1954 to 1958 at Black Bay mine totalled 1 375 t of triuranium octoxide grading 0.17%.

Xcite has approved a budget of $1.1-million for the current drilling programme comprising $125 000 of fieldwork - which has been completed - and $975 000 for drilling using two rigs.

The drilling will test for both structurally-controlled Beaverlodge-type mineralisation and basement-hosted unconformity-style mineralisation.

The Black Bay property spans 1 114 ha, with Xcite holding an overall six projects totalling 12 310 ha in the Beaverlodge District, in Saskatchewan's Athabasca basin.

The Athabasca basin supplies about 20% of the world's uranium supplies. These deposits are typically ten to a hundred times the grade of deposits elsewhere in the world.
