While mining has traditionally been viewed as a male-dominated industry, Roxia says women are now contributing across a range of functions both at mine sites and within the businesses that support modern mining operations.

Filtration is one area where women are contributing to the development and delivery of technologies used by the mining sector. Filtration solutions can support process performance, water recovery, environmental performance and sustainability objectives.

At Roxia, women are represented across a range of functions, including engineering, project management, finance, sales, marketing, customer support and leadership.

In South Africa, women are strongly represented in commercial and leadership positions at Roxia, where they are involved in customer relationships, business growth and the advancement of filtration technologies for the industry.

Although roles are primarily based outside the mine gate, Roxia says women’s roles support mining operations through the provision of filtration technologies and services aimed at improving efficiency, water recovery and sustainability.

The growing participation of women also brings different perspectives and experiences to the workplace. According to Roxia, diverse teams can strengthen collaboration and problem-solving, particularly as the mining industry faces increasing demands for efficiency and sustainability.

As the mining industry continues to evolve, the role of people with diverse backgrounds and expertise is expected to remain important alongside technological development.

Women working across the mining value chain are increasingly contributing to the technologies, services and expertise supporting the industry’s operations and its focus on efficiency and sustainability.
