SSR targets Oct restart at Seabee mine

Denver-based SSR Mining is preparing to restart operations at its Seabee mine in Saskatchewan, Canada, by the second half of October, following a significant reduction in wildfire activity near the site.

The Seabee mine was evacuated on August 21, with only a small team of employees remaining to manage the situation and assist the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency with fire protection efforts.

While the Santoy mine and the process plant were largely unaffected by the wildfires, some remote equipment—such as power poles, piping and exploration gear—sustained damage.

With the fire risk now diminished, SSR has cleared employees to return to the site to begin repairs on the damaged infrastructure.

SSR plans to issue updated production and cost guidance for the Seabee mine when it reports its third quarter financial results.
