South Africa must go full tilt into solar and wind without looking back

A country can never have too much electricity. Available energy allows business to expand without fear of being without it. The way ahead for South Africa is to go full tilt into solar and wind generation without looking back. When the country had excess electricity in days gone by, it led to new investment, economic growth, and jobs.

With clean energy, the opportunities will be even greater. We have superior sun, prime wind, ample land, and the ability to generate renewable energy competitively. If we have excess power in the future, turning electrons into molecules is there for the taking – and that can assure energy independence. Not importing energy is so inviting.

Paying huge amounts on imported fuel can be something of the past, fast, if the inviting opportunities currently beckoning us are taken up.
