The Seriti Power Community Trust has started construction of the new Klarinet police station, in eMalahleni, Mpumalanga, to improve community safety and provide sustainable infrastructure in the communities that host Seriti Resources’ operations.

The new facility, which will be completed by December 2027, will serve the Pine Ridge, Klarinet, Siyanqoba and surrounding communities, and will improve access to policing services, increase law-enforcement visibility and support improved response times to criminal incidents.

The R50-million investment by the Seriti Power Community Trust covers construction, conveyancing and legal transfer requirements, as well as equipping the facility for operational readiness.

Delivery is being undertaken in partnership with the eMalahleni local municipality, the Department of Public Works and Infrastructure (DPWI) and the South African Police Service (SAPS).

Further, the municipality is donating the land, which the DPWI will receive on behalf of government, while the SAPS will operate the completed facility.

Key technical and planning stages have been completed, including topographical and geotechnical investigations, zoning approvals and the submission of the design package to DPWI.

The dedicated policing facility will strengthen public infrastructure and support safer communities, the trust says.

“The sod-turning [on August 25] for the Klarinet police station is a milestone in our work to support safer and more resilient communities. Our R50-million investment reflects our commitment to working in partnership with government to deliver infrastructure that responds to the needs of our host communities,” says Seriti Resources CEO Mike Teke.

“We look forward to the completed facility strengthening policing services and contributing to improved safety outcomes for Pine Ridge, Klarinet and Siyanqoba.”
