Schneider Electric, a global energy technology leader, has announced the South African launch of Easy9 Pro, a cost-effective new generation of final distribution products designed to support small to medium residential and commercial building projects.
The Easy9 Pro forms part of Schneider Electric’s Easy9 family, extending the existing portfolio by offering higher performance capabilities for applications requiring increased breaking capacity. It includes a comprehensive range of protection devices such as the Miniature Circuit Breakers (MCBs), Residual Current Circuit Breakers (RCCBs), auxiliaries, and accessories
“South Africa has a diverse range of electrical distribution requirements across residential, commercial, and utility applications. While the Easy series has successfully supported many projects, there was an opportunity to address applications requiring higher short-circuit protection capabilities,” says Canninah Dladla, Cluster President for Sub-Saharan Africa at Schneider Electric.
“Easy9 Pro fills this gap by extending our offer up to 10kA, allowing us to support projects that previously required higher-performing solutions. At the same time, we have designed the range to remain cost-effective, ensuring customers can access the required level of protection without compromising on quality or reliability.”
Designed for flexibility, built for reliability
The Easy9 Pro range supports multiple installation requirements, including compatibility with both pin-type and fork-type bus bars, making it easier for contractors and panel builders to integrate into different project configurations.
The MCB range, for example, provides circuit protection against short circuits and overload
currents, while also supporting isolation functions. The devices are available with breaking capacities up to 10kA, supporting a wider range of applications beyond traditional residential requirements.
“From a project perspective, simplicity and reliability are critical. Customers require solutions that help them manage budgets while ensuring compliance and safety. Easy9 Pro provides that balance by offering a dependable product range that can support different project scales.”
Enhancing safety through intelligent design
The Easy9 Pro products feature a green strip on the toggle, providing Positive Contact Indication by visually confirming the physical opening of contacts and supporting safer maintenance activities.
The RCCB range also supports system-level protection by providing enhanced short-circuit withstand capabilities when coordinated with Easy9 Pro MCBs.
Additional features include:
- Compatibility with auxiliary devices to support remote indication and tripping functions.
- Clear ON/OFF toggle indication.
- Robust short-circuit protection through energy-limiting Class 3 performance.
- DIN rail mounting enables quick, standardised installation .
- Compliance with relevant IEC standards.
As part of Schneider Electric’s commitment to sustainable innovation, Easy9 Pro has been developed with environmental considerations integrated throughout the product lifecycle. The range carries the Green Premium label and includes verified environmental product information to support more informed choices.
The Easy9 Pro technical features include:
- Final distribution solution for residential and small to medium commercial applications.
- MCB breaking capacity up to 10kA.
- Compliance with IEC/EN 60898-1 and IEC/EN 60947-2 iinternational safety and performance standards.
- MCB and RCCB compatibility with pin and fork bus bar systems.
- Available auxiliary functions including OF (Open/Closed Contact / Auxiliary Contact), SD (Fault Indication Contact/Auxiliary) and MX (Shunt Trip Coil) options
- RCCB protection available with 30mA, 100mA and 300mA sensitivity options
- Operating voltage: 240/415V AC
- Operating frequency: 50/60Hz
- Operating temperature range: -30°C to +70°C for MCBs
The Easy9 Pro range is available in South Africa through Schneider Electric’s authorised distribution network.
