Nimba Mining Company opens a second logistics corridor to support its ramp-up
Guinea bauxite miner Nimba Mining Company (NMC) has secured access to the multi-user mining road through an agreement with the National Agency for the Development of Mining Infrastructure.
This provides NMC with access to the ports of Dapilon through an existing 56 km road running from the southern part of its Tinguilinta mining concession, opening up a second logistics corridor for the company.
The multi-user mining road is shared with SMB, CDM, KBM, Dynamic Mining and Ashapura.
“The opening of this second logistics corridor is a strategic milestone for NMC. It enables us to overcome a logistics bottleneck and increase bauxite production and exports from Tinguilinta,” said NMC CEO Patrice L’Huilier, noting that the new route complements the existing rail-to-port corridor linking the mine to the Port of Kamsar.
With NMC expecting to reach nine-million tonnes of bauxite mined by the end of November and 10-million tonnes by the end of 2026, the opening of this second corridor marks an important step in supporting higher volumes and facilitating exports to international markets.
“By diversifying its transport routes and access to port infrastructure, NMC is strengthening its export capacity and supporting the continued ramp-up of its operations.”
Further, by using existing infrastructure shared among several operators, NMC is contributing to more efficient use of the country’s logistics capacity.
“This agreement marks another step towards building a more resilient and diversified national export network, supporting the development of Guinea’s mining sector,” he concluded.
