NexGold starts early works ahead of Goldboro construction starting Q1
TSX-V-listed NexGold has started with site preparation and early works ahead of construction at the Goldboro gold project, in Nova Scotia.
The board targets full-scale construction to start in the first quarter next year, with a final construction decision due before the end of this year.
The site preparation and early works include erosion control infrastructure and mobilisation of site services contractors.
NexGold has engaged Mi’kma’ki-Municipal Limited Partnership in the execution of the site preparation and early works construction activities, which is a majority Indigenous-owned partnership between Municipal Enterprises Limited and the 13 Mi'knaw First Nations communities of Novia Scotia.
“While key mine planning, engineering, procurement, community engagement, and recruitment activities remain ongoing, we are now prudently deploying capital toward activities designed to further derisk Goldboro ahead of a potential construction decision.
“In parallel with these early works, we are finalising the updated feasibility study to support a potential construction decision, both of which we are currently anticipating in the fourth quarter of 2026. We are also continuing to advance critical detailed engineering activities to support early construction contracts, procurement of long-lead equipment and various project execution planning initiatives," says NexGold president, CEO and director Kevin Bullock.
He expects construction of the Goldboro project to take 26 months, following which the 11-year operation will produce an average 100 000 oz/y of gold.
