Inaugural uranium ore concentrate departs Lotus’s Malawi mine
ASX-listed Lotus Resources reports that the first uranium ore shipment has left its Kayelekera uranium mine, in Malawi.
The company notes that the first shipment of four containers holding about 145 000 lb of uranium octoxide departed the mine site for the Port of Walvis Bay, in Namibia.
Shipping is booked for November departure with delivery to Orano CE Malvesi, in France, expected by the end of the calendar year. Lotus says subsequent shipments are expected to leave site before year-end.
“The successful despatch of product from Kayelekera is a pivotal moment for Lotus and is one of the final steps in delivering product to customers and beginning to generate revenue and cashflows.
“At the same time, we continue to focus on optimising the Kayelekera operations and ramping up production,” says MD Greg Bittar.
