Drive, power systems spotlighted
Industrial electrical technologies manufacturer WEG Africa plans to showcase its top solutions, services and expertise built for the mining sector at this year’s Electra Mining Africa (EMA) exhibition – to be held over September 7 to 11 at the Johannesburg Expo Centre.
WEG’s products and solutions targeted at mining, include high-efficiency motors, substations and battery energy storage systems.
Because mines thrive on reliability, scale and efficiency, WEG says they expect infrastructure investments that will support those goals effectively with modern features and technical superiority.
The mining sector yielded record profits in 2025 – a windfall WEG says will support long-term strategies around growing operational complexity and higher costs. Thus, the company says mining houses are keen to see what the latest infrastructure products, services, and technologies can provide across their portfolios.
WEG says it is uniquely positioned to deliver advantages to mining operators, service providers and original equipment manufacturers through its electric motors, locally manufactured voltage control systems, advanced solar and battery storage, rugged charging stations, customised generators, industrial steam turbines and e-house substations.
“Mining companies are investing in their long-term resilience and growth. They are looking for the best choices, which is what WEG will showcase at EMA this year. Our vision is powering Africa today for tomorrow,” says WEG Africa CEO Eduardo Werninghaus.
Physical Showcase
Visitors to WEG Africa’s EMA stand can interact with a range of physical systems, digital showcases and product demonstrations, including IE3, IE4, IE5 and IE6 efficiency motors for heavy and severe duty applications, WEG’s compact W80 AXgen electric motors and locally manufactured industrial soft-starters, switchgear and motor control centres.
Visitors can also expect to see the WEMOB Wall charging stations with smart features and outdoor resilience, three-phase solar inverters, industrial battery energy storage systems and interactive 3D models of WEG’s next-generation e-house modular substations.
Compact, self-contained mini substations for low-, medium- and high-voltage applications will also be exhibited, as will small-frame, higher power-density alternators; hybrid, modular and customised generators; scale-size industrial turbines, and turbine repair and servicing; industrial variable speed drives with advanced smart and automation features; and customisable and plug-and-play frequency and AC/DC inverters.
WEG Africa’s experts will be on hand to demonstrate this wide selection of industrial electric solutions, sharing their knowledge and best practices garnered from industry interactions and WEG’s global presence.
