Copper 360 appoints Gordon Thompson CEO, Seten Naidoo CFO
JSE-listed copper producer Copper 360 has appointed Gordon Thompson as its new CEO, while Seten Naidoo has been appointed as the company’s new CFO.
The appointments took effect on September 24, with Thompson relinquishing his role as COO and Naidoo stepping down as chief risk officer (CRO).
Andre Basson has been appointed as the company’s new COO.
Thompson, a professional certificated engineer, has more than 25 years of experience in mine development, construction, commissioning and operations across Africa.
He has held senior executive and board positions at JSE-, ASX- and LSE-listed companies and joined Copper 360 in June 2023 as COO, before serving as transitional CEO.
Meanwhile, Naidoo has 17 years of experience in financial markets in the mining sector, spanning asset management and corporate strategy.
He has also previously been ranked among the top mining and commodities analysts in the Financial Mail Analyst Rankings.
Naidoo joined Copper 360 in 2025 as CRO and recently served as transitional commercial director. He has been interim CFO since June this year.
Basson is a Gold Fields-trained mining engineer with 33 years of industry experience, and his career spans a range of mining environments, from the copper mines of Namaqualand to deep-level platinum operations, as well as trackless underground zinc and platinum mining.
The company says fit-and-proper assessments have been completed for Thompson and Naidoo, with the board satisfied with the outcomes.
The Copper 360 audit and risk committee has also confirmed that Naidoo has the competence, qualifications, expertise and experience required to serve as CFO and FD.
The board has also approved changes to the composition and structure of its committees, effective September 25, following a review and recommendation by the nominations and governance committee.
