Central Asia vanadium miner Ferro-Alloy Resources appoints Secker CEO
London-listed Ferro-Alloy Resources has appointed Peter Secker CEO effective mid-October, following which current CEO Nick Bridgen will transition to non-executive deputy chairperson.
Ferro-Alloy Resources produces vanadium in Kazakhstan from the Balasausqandiq deposit.
The company has submitted applications to the US government related to funding for secure critical minerals supply, while discussions are also underway with strategic partners to integrate ferro-vanadium production into the US steel and defence supply chain.
Ferro-Alloy Resources is also advancing testwork for yttrium by-production from the Balausa project, which it says will have low incremental capital and operating costs given the substantial value of yttrium oxide produced outside of China.
Bridgen comments Secker has the right skills and experience to lead the financing and construction of the Balausa project, which is the only vanadium project with the scale and cost profile to meaningfully diversify supply of this designated critical mineral - as vanadium supply is currently concentrated in China and Russia.
Vanadium is essential to high-strength steel and to the aerospace supply chains of the US and its allies. Additionally, vanadium flow batteries are increasingly used to serve the high-capacity and long-duration requirements of the energy storage market.
