JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) - Aim-listed Botswana Diamonds on Monday said its still undisclosed international partner had agreed to the “outline of an operating joint venture” for the exploration of new targets.

The possible joint venture with the “major international diamond producer” was subject to board approval.

The Botswana-focused diamond exploration and project development company zoomed in on specific potential regions for exploration, after its partner’s technology identified new exploration targets in the Orapa region, north-east of Botswana.

Botswana Diamonds was currently awaiting the licences required for work to be undertaken in the region, after which detailed analysis would start.

The international partner held technology that was able to identify diamondiferous kimberlites in specific areas ranging from 3 km2 to 20 km2.
