Australia's International Graphite confirms Collie facility can also produce superfine products from mid-2027
ASX-listed International Graphite says construction of its Collie graphite micronising facility is on track for commissioning in mid-2027.
The facility marks the first commercial-scale graphite micronising facility in Australia and establishes a secure source of high-value products for customers faced with rising geopolitical threats to their supply chains.
Notably, the company confirms that the production equipment selected for Collie provides the capability to produce superfine graphite products. The facility will therefore be capable of producing a greater range of products than envisioned in the front-end engineering design study.
International Graphite expects that, at current spot prices, the facility can generate yearly earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation of between $11-million and $14.2-million, depending on the ultimate finished product sales mix.
The facility is planned to produce between 4 300 t/y and 6 400 t/y of standard and high-grade finished graphite products at varying sizes - between 5 μm and 45 μm.
International Graphite confirms there are multiple pathways to grow Collie's earnings through capital-efficient expansion and product diversification.
For one, the company is exploring localised graphite purification and future integration with the Springdale graphite project, which would provide the company with its own feedstock supply for the Collie plant and enable a fully integrated Australian graphite processing and manufacturing operation over time.
